Pensoft at TDWG 2026: Championing Robot-Ready Biodiversity Data Standards in Oslo
Pensoft is heading to TDWG 2026, the annual conference of Biodiversity Information Standards, taking place in Oslo, Norway, 21-25 September 2026.
This year's theme, "Research and Robot-ready Biodiversity Data Standards," reflects the community's growing focus on making biodiversity data more interoperable, machine-actionable, and ready for modern research demands - a mission closely aligned with Pensoft's own work in scholarly publishing and data dissemination.

On site, Pensoft will be easy to spot at its dedicated exhibition stand, showcasing its extensive range of publications, services and EU-Funded project participation. Pensoft will also present its ARPHA Publishing Platform, which offers end-to-end publishing solutions for scholarly journals, books, and conference abstracts. Attendees will also be able to browse Pensoft's diverse selection of books, covering a wide range of ecological and environmental topics.
Pensoft's EU-funded projects at TDWG 2026
In addition, Pensoft will showcase its involvement in several biodiversity-focused projects. As an active consortium member, Pensoft leads the communication, dissemination and exploitation activities of the EU-funded projects: TETTRIX, ANERIS, and BMD - Biodiversity Meets Data.
- TETTRIX strengthens skills, tools, and services across European taxonomic institutions, making taxonomic expertise more accessible and future-proof.
- ANERIS develops next-generation tools for sensing marine life, combining genomics, imaging, bio-optics, and participatory science to tackle the rapid loss of ocean biodiversity.
- BMD is building a Single Access Point - a centralised digital toolbox offering high-throughput biodiversity monitoring, data mobilisation, and analysis tools to support evidence-based conservation across Europe.
Across all three projects, Pensoft draws on its experience in scholarly publishing and community outreach to ensure project results reach researchers, policymakers, and the broader biodiversity community.
Workshop: FAIR from the start to the end
Pensoft will also host a workshop as part of session WKS43 - "How Literature Services can Support & Benefit from Biodiversity Publication and Data Standards?"
On Thursday, 24 September at 11:00 AM, titled "FAIR from the start to the end: Biodiversity Publishing with the ARPHA Writing Tool 3.0," the workshop will demonstrate how the ARPHA Writing Tool supports FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) biodiversity publishing throughout the entire authoring and publication process - from manuscript drafting and structured data entry, to automated export in standards-compliant, machine-readable formats.
Supporting scientific excellence
Pensoft is committed to supporting scientific excellence. To recognise outstanding student presentations at the annual TDWG conference, Pensoft will support the Best Student Oral Presentation and Best Student Poster awards. Both prizes will consist of a free publication of a standard-size article in one of Pensoft's journals.
